A clinical double from Diego Costa helped Chelsea withstand a spirited Everton fightback and triumph in a nine-goal classic at Goodison Park.

Costa and Branislav Ivanovic struck inside three minutes to put Jose Mourinho's men in a commanding position but a flying Kevin Mirallas header brought the hosts back into contention before the interval.

A Seamus Coleman own goal on 67 minutes put Chelsea back in control before Nemanja Matic, Samuel Eto'o and Ramires struck within the space of four incredible minutes, but Costa netted again at the death as the Blues held on to preserve their 100 per cent start to the season.
It had been feared that the 25-year-old would miss the match, with Chelsea announcing on Thursday that the former Atletico Madrid talisman had suffered a "minor muscular problem".

And Everton may have wished his name had not been on the team sheet when Costa collected Cesc Fabregas' pass and sprung the offside trap before sliding the ball between the legs of a woefully exposed Howard after just 35 seconds.

Things went from bad to worse for Roberto Martinez's side when Ramires forced the ball through a disorganised home defence to pick out Ivanovic, who in turn found the back of the net - although he looked to have strayed beyond the last defender.

Amazingly, the early drama continued as Howard raced out to collect Eden Hazard's searching long ball and handled outside his area, but the American goalkeeper escaped punishment.

The hosts thought they had pulled a goal back in the 15th minute after former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku's header struck the crossbar and was turned in by Distin, but the defender was offside.

Distin was then relieved to see a Fabregas strike flash just wide after the Frenchman had got a toe-end on the ball in the 29th minute.

Everton responded, and Mirallas brought them back into the game with an excellent header from Coleman's cross in first-half stoppage time.

Phil Jagielka's careless pass inside his own half almost sent Everton back to square one within seven minutes of the restart, but Costa was thwarted by Howard after racing through on goal.

Chelsea's third did arrive in the 68th minute when Hazard's attempted cutback was turned into his own net by Coleman, only for Naismith to hit back inside 60 seconds with a cool finish after getting in behind a static visiting defence.

Matic's measured strike from distance kept Chelsea on top, though their lead was narrowed when Eto'o seized his moment to keep the pressure on with a close-range finish.

Remarkably, that was not the end of the scoring, as Ramires found the bottom corner with 13 minutes left and then substitute Muhamed Besic's poor first touch handed Costa his second, completing a memorable Chelsea victory.

Do you know that US operations in Iraq costing $7.5m a day as Obama deliberates strategy.

Rear Adm John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, told reporters on Friday that daily military operations in Iraq since 16 June, when the White House informed Congress it had ordered up to 275 US troops to bolster embassy security in Baghdad, have cost on average $7.5m.

Those operations stretched into their 75th day on Friday, suggesting a cost of around $562.5m. Kirby did not break down the $7.5m figure, and he cautioned that not that much money was actually spent every day.

Since 16 June, the panoply of US operations in Iraq, the first since the 2011 troop withdrawal, have expanded. Hundreds of US special operations “advisers” arrived in Baghdad and Irbil to aid the Iraqi military and Kurdish Peshmerga militia forces plan a response to Isis’ advance across much of northern and central Iraq, briefly topping 1,000 for a reconnaissance mission atop Mount Sinjar earlier this month.

Around 60 surveillance flights, by piloted planes and drones, occur daily over territory controlled by Isis. The US has launched 110 airstrikes against Isis positions, artillery and equipment, mostly to dislodge Isis from the Mosul Dam and prevent the jihadist army from retaking it. Initially, those airstrikes centered around relieving an Isis siege of Mount Sinjar and stopping Isis from advancing into Iraqi Kurdistan. Kirby suggested that the hundreds of special operations “advisers,” some of whom are said to spot for airstrikes, might at some point perform “more of an advisory mission” to bolster the performance of Iraqi brigades. Much of the advice currently offered occurs within senior-level planning centers, called Joint Operations Centers, rather than at frontline brigades.

Kirby also said that the Pentagon had yet to provide Obama with military options against Isis in Syria, where he is under enormous political pressure to expand the latest US war. Obama conceded on Thursday that he thus far lacks a strategy against a group that has erased the border between Iraq and Syria, and which the Pentagon leadership describes in apocalyptic terms.

“When we get to a point when we’re ready to have a more fulsome discussion about that, the Pentagon will be ready to have that discussion,” Kirby said.

For months, however, Pentagon planners have discussed attacking Isis in Syria as well as in Iraq. Last week, General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters he was “not predicting [airstrikes] will occur in Syria,” a tempering note echoed by Obama on Thursday.

Kirby conceded that he would “be less than truthful if I said to you that we hadn’t been thinking about that before yesterday. Of course we have been … but we’re not at the point where we’re prepared to have a more fulsome discussion about what those options are with the commander-in-chief.”

Military planning, Kirby said, is “an iterative process.”

The US’ closest ally, the UK, raised its terror level to “severe” in response to Isis on Friday, as western governments fear that an unknown number of Isis fighters holding US and European passports will return from Iraq and Syria to launch attacks. But the Obama administration cautioned that it sees no imminent domestic attack from Isis.

A statement from Ajax read: "Daley Blind will not be part of the match squad for the away game against Groningen. Ajax have granted the Netherlands international permission to open talks with an interested club."

Louis van Gaal is keen to strengthen his defensive options following the arrival of Marcos Rojo from Sporting, although the Argentina international has not yet obtained a work permit and is still unavailable for selection.

Blind, who said earlier in August that he would find it difficult to turn down a move to Old Trafford, primarily plays as a left-back but is capable of covering in central defence.

Blind is set to become United's sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Vanja Milinkovic, Rojo and Di Maria, who joined from Real Madrid in a deal worth £59.7m on Tuesday.

Baada ya Jide kutopatikana hewani, Jumatano iliyopita paparazi wetu alimtwangia simu Mtoto wa Vitoto ili kumsikia anauzungumziaje ukaribu wake na sista huyo ambapo baada ya kusomewa mkasa mzima, dogo alikata simu kwa madai kuwa sehemu aliyokuwa siku hiyo haikuwa nzuri na kuahidi kumpigia paparazi wetu baadaye lakini hakufanya hivyo hadi kesho yake (Alhamisi) alipopigiwa tena na gazeti hili na kupokea.

ADAI NI MARAFIKI
Huku akiashiria sauti ya kutojiamini, dogo huyo alisema yeye na Jide ni marafiki wakubwa katika mazingira ya kawaida, pia  ni shabiki wake kama walivyo wengine ila ishu ya picha mtu yeyote anaweza kupiga.

Kuhusu kuendesha gari linalodaiwa ni la Jide, dogo alisema hajawahi ila ameshapiga nalo picha na mtu yeyote anaweza kufanya hivyo kama ana uhusiano mzuri na mwanamuziki huyo.
“Jide ni rafiki yangu na mimi ni shabiki wake wa kawaida. Kwa hiyo hilo siyo tatizo lakini pia kuhusu gari mimi sijawahi kuendesha gari la Jide lakini nimewahi kupiga nalo picha kweli kama shabiki mwingine na hakuna shida, ila siyo wapenzi, ni marafiki tu,” alisema Mtoto wa Vitoto.

Baada ya kuzungumza hayo, Mtoto wa Vitoto alikata simu na baada ya dakika tatu alituma ujumbe mfupi wa maandishi (SMS) kwenye simu ya paparazi wetu uliosomeka hivi: “Acha kunizingua mwana.”
Paparazi wetu alipompigia simu kwa mara nyingine kutaka kujua alikuwa na maana gani, dogo huyo hakupokea simu na hata alipoandikiwa SMS kwamba atoe ufafanuzi kuhusu ujumbe wake huo, hakujibu chochote hadi gazeti hili linakwenda mitamboni.

Anti-graft officers search Hong Kong home of media tycoon Jimmy Lai.

Anti-corruption officers in Hong Kong searched the home of a media tycoon and outspoken critic of Beijing early Thursday morning, as the battle over electoral changes stepped up.

The search in Kowloon followed the leak of documents that revealed donations made by the tycoon, Jimmy Lai, to pro-democracy individuals and organisations, and strange incidents including a faked obituary for him.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) said it had acted after receiving complaints alleging that legislators had accepted bribes and denied that political considerations played a part.

Lai's aide, Mark Simon, whose home was also searched, told the Associated Press that the visits were "a wonderful diversion two days, three days, before [something that is] not going to be very popular is announced".

Beijing is due to announce plans for electoral reforms this weekend. China has promised universal suffrage for Hong Kong's election of a chief executive in 2017, but reports suggest only a handful of Beijing loyalists will be eligible to stand: candidates will have to be backed by more than half the members of a nominating committee stacked with Beijing supporters.

Activists have responded by vowing to start on Sunday, rather than any time later, their non-violent campaign of civil disobedience, called Occupy Central With Love and Peace.

Last month, a fake obituary for Lai, saying he had died of Aids and cancer, appeared in a rival Hong Kong publication.

The businessman has also complained that large companies have pulled advertising under pressure from Beijing, although firms have denied that. Last year a car rammed the gates of his home and an axe and machete were left at the scene. Shortly afterwards, masked men threatened workers and burned thousands of copies of his pro-democracy newspaper, Apple Daily.

In an article for the newspaper on Wednesday Lai wrote that the sharp contrast between his childhood on the mainland and the "precious freedom" he had enjoyed once he settled in Hong Kong made him all the more determined to pursue democracy.

"You can mock me and slander me all you want. Buy a full-page advertisement posting an obituary of me saying that I died from Aids and do all you can to curse and smear me. I will not change," he said.

Shares in his company, Next Media, dropped by 6% when the news of the ICAC visit broke, picking up slightly before trading was halted. The company also owns Next Media Animation, known for its satirical cartoon news coverage.

Last month leaked documents, apparently obtained by hacking Simon's files, showed Lai had donated more than HK$10m (£778,000) to pan-democratic parties and politicians and civic education groups since last year. He also backed Occupy Central's unofficial referendum on electoral reform.

One of the recipients, the pan-democrat legislator and Labour party leader, Lee Chuek-yan, said that the ICAC had searched his house too. He told the South China Morning Post that the investigation was looking into a possible relationship between donations and a speech he made in the legislature on safeguarding editorial independence.

Chan Kin-man, one of the organisers of Occupy Central, said he still trusted the ICAC to behave independently and noted that it had to respond to complaints. But he added: "The whole thing [beginning with the hacking] is politically motivated. The atmosphere in Hong Kong is very gloomy ... We expected attacks and smears to scare away people and hurt our credibility, but to happen to this extent we think is very disappointing."

Occupy Central's rally on Sunday will mark the beginning of its campaign. Thousands of students have also pledged to boycott classes next month. Organisers say their plan for a blockade of the financial district remains a last resort.

Michael Davis, a law professor at the University of Hong Kong, said efforts to discredit democracy activists could easily backfire. "The public tends to view all of this as Beijing intrusion into Hong Kong, whether it is Beijing directly or pro-Beijing people trying to intimidate or discredit the democratic camp. Often when they have this heavy-handed behaviour, they end up winding up the public to action."

While Lai's financial support for democracy activists has been targeted, his case also underscores concerns about deteriorating conditions for Hong Kong media.

"If you talk to frontline reporters, the feeling you get is quite discouraging," said Yuen Chan, a former reporter now teaching journalism at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

She said problems ranged from reduced opportunities for asking officials questions, to the exertion of pressure via advertising and violence against journalists. Attacks have included sudden assaults with cleavers and metal pipes and violence while stories were being reported.

Shirley Yam, spokesperson for the Hong Kong Journalists Association, said: "The interference we used to see was more behind the scenes, or more subtle. What we have been seeing in the past 12 months has been more direct: the gloves have been off ... by that parameter, it's the worst we have seen. We have started to see major management change, direct interference in news content and headlines, and the existence of a black-list of academics and journalists you shouldn't speak to."

Pique, Torres & Mata dropped in Spain squad.

Juan Mata, Fernando Torres, and Pepe Reina are some of the high-profile omissions from the latest Spain squad, with manager Vicente del Bosque naming five uncapped players for the friendly against France and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia.

“This is a squad for the present, but designed to look towards the future,” Del Bosque said after selecting the uncapped quintet of Dani Carvajal, Raúl García, Kiko Casilla, Mikel San José and Paco Alcácer, while recalling Isco, Marc Bartra and Ander Iturraspe.

However, Del Bosque said his squad was not a reaction to Spain’s dismal summer, when they became the first reigning champions ever to be dumped out of the World Cup after losing their opening two matches – thrashed 5-1 by Holland in the opener and then losing 2-0 to Chile.

“We had a wretched time, but we’ve accepted it and moved on,” he said. “There are no consequences. We were not forced to make changes. Every season hope is renewed. That is sport.”

Instead, many of Del Bosque’s changes are enforced following the international retirements of Xavi and Xabi Alonso, plus a number of injuries.

Pique is among those with a problem, and Del Bosque said he was consulted prior to his omission. “I have spoken to him and he has not yet recovered,” Del Bosque said. “He wants to keep coming but I only want to count on him when he is fit.”

The same goes for Manchester United’s expensive summer acquisition, the uncapped Ander Herrera, and Valencia forward Rodrigo, who both came under consideration but were not fit enough to be selected.

“Ander Hererra and Rodrigo might have been included but they have discomforts,” Del Bosque said. While Torres is out, his new Chelsea team-mate Diego Costa gets the call despite concerns over a hamstring injury.

“The medical team at Chelsea have told us it is not a serious problem, so we are not worried,” Del Bosque said.

Kwa mujibu wa mashuhuda wa ajali hiyo wamesema ajali hiyo ilitokea maeneo ya Mbalizi baada ya Hiace iliyokuwa ikitokea Mbeya mjini kuelekea Mbalizi kulivaa lori lililokuwa likiingia barabarani.

Walisema inasemekana dereva wa Hiace gari yake ilimshinda kutokana na kutelemka mlima mkali wa Mbalizi ingawa pia walimtupia lawama dereva wa lori ambaye alikuwa akiingia barabarani bila kuchukua tahadhari.

Muuguzi Mkuu wa Hospitali Teule ya Ifisi, Mbalizi, Sikitu Mbilinyi, ambako majeruhi na marehemu walikimbizwa hapo alithibitisha kupokea majeruhi 7 ambapo alisema kati yao ni wanawake 3 na wanaume 4.

Alisema kati ya majeruhi hao wawili wamepewa rufaa kwenda Hospitali ya Rufaa Mbeya kutokana na kuhitaji msaada zaidi huku wengine wakiendelea kupatiwa msaada wa haraka ili kunusuru hali zao.

Mbilinyi aliongeza kuwa pia wamepokea miili ya marehemu 10 wakiwemo watoto wawili na wanawake wanne na wanaume wanne.

Hata hivyo majina ya majeruhi na marehemu hayajaweza kupatikana mara moja kutokana na kuwa katika hali mbaya ambapo dereva wa lori alitokomea mara baada ya tukio.

Mateka 15 wa Kikurd wanaoshikiliwa na wapiganaji wa ISIS.ISIS wamesema wataendelea kuwachinja mateka hao mpaka Marekani itakapoondoa majeshi yake.

Katika video hiyo, Kundi la ISIS linaonekana likimchinja mmoja wa mateka hao wa Kikurd waliokamatwa wakati wa mapigani nchini Iraq.

NCHI ya Nigeria imezindua mpango wa vitambulisho vya taifa hilo vya ki- elektroniki. Rais wa nchi hiyo, Goodluck Jonathan amekuwa mtu wa wanza kupata kadi hiyo ya Biometric, baada ya kuipokea ameielezea kadi hiyo kuwa itarahisisha huduma za Kiserikali lakini pia kadi hiyo inao uwezo wa kufanya malipo mtandaoni.

Rais Jonathan akitumia kitambulisho chake kwenye ATM.

Baada ya uzinduzi huo, imebainika kwamba Wanaigeria wote watapaswa kuwa na kadi hiyo mpaka kufikia mwaka 2019 endapo watakuwa na haja ya kupiga kura.

Jaribio la kutaka taifa la Nigeria kuwa na vitambulisho vya taifa lilishindwa kutimia miaka kumi iliyopita kutokana na rushwa.

Akizungumza na Ijumaa hivi karibuni, Moses alisema kuwa kutokana na maneno mengi kuenea kuwa anatoka na Aunt, ameona ni bora aweke wazi hisia zake kwamba ni kweli anampenda msanii huyo na kuwa naye mbali itakuwa vigumu.
