It is a sight that must surely have spooked Shrien Dewani – his sister-in-law at his trial in his dead wife’s clothes.
But friends say Ami, the younger sibling of murdered honeymoon bride Anni, has been wearing her outfits during the first week of the case “to be close to her”.

And she is also said to want 28-year-old Anni, who was shot dead in a taxi in 2010, to have a “presence” during the proceedings.

On Wednesday Ami, 37, came face to face with the man accused of plotting his wife’s murder dressed in her sister’s red top and black jacket.
The following day she wore Anni’s grey trouser suit and white blouse for the hearing in Cape Town.
A source said: “Ami was extremely close to Anni and their love was very strong.
"She misses her every day and wanted to feel close to Anni during the murder trial.
“In that courtroom were Mziwamadoda Qwabe who is one of the ruthless killers of Anni and Shrien who is accused of being part of the plot.
“Ami wanted to give Anni a presence in the courtroom and decided to wear her loving sister’s clothes to be close to her during these difficult days.”

Closure: Father Vinod Hindocha
Engineer Ami was in court every day of the opening week as she supported her father Vinod, mother Nilam and brother Anish.
The married mum-of-two has said she will “watch every video, see every picture and listen to every bit of evidence to get the full story” during the trial which is expected to last two months.
She told an interviewer beforehand: “I miss my sister every minute of the day and I have to know every single detail about what happened to her.”
Ami’s family have never criticised Bristol-based millionaire care home owner Dewani, 34, and say they simply want closure.
But Dewani’s admission that he slept with gay prostitutes is thought to have shocked them.

Dewani, who is being held at a psychiatric hospital, is charged with orchestrating the murder of his new bride in township Khayelisha in 2010.
Taxi driver Zola Tongo, gunman Xolile Mngeni and accomplice Mzwamadoda Qwabe are all serving 25 years for Anni’s murder.
Tongo and Qwabe accuse Dewani of paying for a staged carjacking and for Anni to be murdered.
Dewani denies the charges.
