Police have now confirmed that Palmira Silva was the victim of the killing in north London today.
The 82-year-old, who is believed to be of Italian descent, was found dead outside a house in Edmonton.
Scotland Yard said that while formal identification has yet to take place, its officers were satisfied that she was the victim discovered in Nightingale Road.
A 25-year-old man was Tasered and arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene by armed officers, some of whom were injured in a struggle.
He is currently under guard in hospital.

Sky News are reporting that the suspect is thought to have tried to attack two other people before the death of 82-year-old Palmira Silva.
A number of eye witnesses reported a man 'went on a rampage' in back gardens in Nightingale Road, Edmonton.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested and inquiries are continuing.
